North Shore Gymnastics Association gymnasts made a splash this past weekend (Jan. 26 – 28) while competing at the Legacy Luau Invite Competition at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The event was hosted by Legacy Gymnastics.
The Xcel Gold team started things off right on Friday, ultimately earning a team award for second place. In the youngest age division (Jr A), Isla Hatfield (10, Delano) took home first place in floor, beam, and the all-around, while also placing third place on bars. Lauren Wheeler (9, Independence) took second place on floor, third place in vault, and fifth place in the all-around. Maya Wetter (10, Delano) earned second place in vault, third place in floor, and fourth place on bars. Riley O’Donnell (10, Delano) earned fifth place on floor, while teammates Camille Winkler (10, Mound) earned fifth place on beam and Kate Pohl (10, Corcoran) earned fifth in vault. In the next age division (Jr B), Olivia Johnson (12, Long Lake) earned second place in vault, third place on floor, and fifth place on bars. Hannah Erickson (11, Plymouth) took home fifth place on floor, while Sophia Stavlo (12, Delano) earned fourth place in vault and fifth place in beam. Lucy Jones (12, Mound) also took home a medal, earning the fifth spot in vault. In senior division (Sr A), Ava Peterson (12, Delano) took home first place in the all-around, while also taking second place in both vault and floor. In the final senior division (Sr B), Maddie Meyer (13, Rockford) continued her hot streak, taking home the top spot yet again in the all-around and vault, second place in beam and floor, and third place in bars.
