Our Mission
At North Shore Gymnastics Association, it is our mission to acquaint children at all levels of physical ability, potential and growth with the sport of gymnastics in an atmosphere of safe, fun, positive learning and to help each child develop gymnastics skills, good sportsmanship and self-discipline.
About NSGA
North Shore Gymnastics Association (NSGA) is a private non-profit gym serving all children and their families from preschool through high school. Whether competitive or recreational, our holistic approach focuses on bringing out the best in every child, promoting well-being, self-confidence, sportsmanship and belonging.
NSGA is the choice of families because of the care, connection and community we continually build with gymnasts and their families. Our coaches and staff live our values everyday as they prove you can have high-quality gymnastics AND a fun, fulfilling, individualized gymnastics experience.
-
Proudly serving the western suburbs for more than 50 years, we are conveniently located a few miles west of Long Lake, just off of Highway 12 in Maple Plain, MN.
-
More than 1,500 girls and boys ages 16 months to 18 years old participate in our progressive class program on an annual basis.
-
We are dedicated to developing gymnastics excellence while attempting to instill a strong physical and mental foundation for our boys and girls competitive gymnasts.
- Many of our team gymnasts have competed at the Regional and National levels and several have qualified for NCAA gymnastics scholarships.
Our Story
North Shore was founded as a non-profit by a group of parents in 1974 in the wake of Title IX. These parents wanted a safe place for their daughters — and eventually their sons — to experience the many benefits of sport through gymnastics. A parent group was formed to start a search for a coach and create a vision for the program. The plan was to have a comprehensive program that would benefit the entire area.
In January 1974, an agreement was reached with the Orono Independent School District granting North Shore Gymnastics permission to use the Middle School for its gymnastics program.
In March 1974, North Shore Gymnastics became a Minnesota 501(c)3 non-profit Corporation, providing quality gymnastics instruction to children in the Orono and surrounding cities and towns. The community they built together became the foundation for the thriving, value-driven gym NSGA is today.

Our Amazing Staff
NSGA coaches are accomplished experts in gymnastics, trained in the latest techniques and progressions to ensure each child excels according to their individual strengths, passions and abilities.
Many of our coaches were once North Shore gymnasts themselves, so not only do they know and live our values, but they also want to ensure each gymnast has just as positive of an experience as they did.
