North Shore Gymnastics, a 51 year-old athletic club that for years has leased space in Maple Plain’s industrial park, is substantially expanding its footprint with a new facility that’s just a short tumble away from its current home.

The group’s proposed 42,000 square foot two-story facility was approved by Maple Plain City Council this month, with enough space to triple its amount of equipment and programming, said Executive Director Ryan Rohloff.

The group will call 5380/5480 Pioneer Creek Drive home as soon as December 2026. Between land acquisition and construction, the project will cost $9.5 million, per Rohloff.

It’s a reason to celebrate for the nonprofit club that has produced roughly 25 collegiate athletes and serves over 1,500 boys and girls annually with programs ranging from one hour per week to 30 hours. Not straying far was critical.

“That’s a big piece to us. It was very important that we stay in this community,” said Rohloff. “We feel we are part of the development of our community, the communities around us, and the children as they grow up.”
