Gymnasts put on show at Minneapolis Convention Center

Gymnasts from the North Shore women’s Xcel and Levels 7-10 teams made a strong showing at the state meet March 20-23 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

At Level 10, Luciana Levya placed sixth in the all-around, highlighted by strong routines across all events.

The Level 9 team finished fourth. Grace Green, 15, of Chaska, led the team with a first-place all-around finish, including first on floor, second on beam, and third on both vault and bars. Addison Berg, 16, of Mound, tied for first in the all-around and added first-place finishes on bars and floor. Lillian Anderson, 16, of Hamburg, placed second on beam and third on bars. Madelyn Hallett, 16, of Minnetrista, finished first on vault, second on floor, and third on bars and in the all-around.

The Level 8 team also turned in a strong performance. Natalie Reardon, 13, of Wayzata, placed second on beam and first on floor. Kennedy Farley, 14, of Long Lake, finished first on floor, third on beam and third in the all-around. Mila Silbert added a second-place finish on floor and placed third in the all-around.

The Level 7 team was highlighted by several top individual performances. Harper Takkunen, 13, of Plymouth, placed first in the all-around, along with first-place finishes on vault and bars and second on floor. Colbi Shelp, 13, of Maple Plain, placed first on bars and second on vault, finishing second in the all-around. Evelynn Belgarde, 12, of Wayzata, placed second on vault and third in the all-around, while Ava Meyer, 13, of Rockford, finished fourth on vault and floor.

The North Shore Gymnastics Xcel Gold team also had a strong showing. Elise Marcouiller, 11, of Maple Plain, placed first in the all-around, along with first on bars and second on both vault and floor. Kayleigh Kochar, 13, of Watertown, placed first on beam and third on floor. Grace Barsness, 10, of Medina, placed first on floor and third on beam. Cora Wegleitner, 11, of Hamel, placed first on beam and third on bars, finishing third in the all-around. Mackenzie Lewis, 12, of Plymouth, placed second on beam and third on floor.

The Xcel Platinum team earned several top-three finishes. Ashley Meyer, 12, of Rockford, placed first on vault and second in the all-around. Hannah Erickson, 13, of Plymouth, placed first on bars and third in the all-around. Angelina Kovar, 13, of Independence, placed second on vault. Lucy Jones, 13, of Mound, placed third on floor, and Lauren Wheeler, 11, of Independence, placed third on vault. Addy Rice, 12, of Mound, placed third on bars.

The Xcel Diamond team also had a strong showing, led by Maddie Meyer, 15, of Rockford, who placed first in the all-around, first on vault and second on beam. Maya Wetter, 12, of Delano, placed first on floor, while Mia Garding, 17, of Wayzata, placed third on beam.

North Shore’s qualifying gymnasts will compete at the regional meet in Sioux City, Iowa, in April to conclude the season.
