Gymnasts head to Florida for Gasparilla Classic

The North Shore Gymnastics Association’s boys team, Levels 6-10, traveled to Ocala, Florida, to compete in the Gasparilla Classic on Feb. 22.

The morning sessions featured athletes from Levels 6E and 7. Hudson Arvizo, 11, of Maple Plain, faced strong competition and placed fifth on the pommel horse and tied for fifth on the horizontal bar in Level 6E. Kaiden Kochar, 16, of Watertown, placed fifth on both vault and horizontal bar in Level 7.

The afternoon sessions showcased Level 9 gymnast Alexander Bartz, 14, of Minnesota. He placed second on both pommel horse and horizontal bar, third on vault, and finished fifth in the all-around competition in a strong Level 9 field.

The final session highlighted the Level 10 gymnasts. Joe Hartmann, 16, of Independence, placed fourth on floor exercise and fifth on vault. Owen Johnson, 15, of Delano, recorded a standout meet, finishing second on still rings and third on floor exercise, pommel horse, vault and parallel bars. He also earned third place in the all-around competition.

The next competition for the NSGA boys team, Levels 3-5, was scheduled to be the MIGS Invitational in St. Paul from Feb. 28 through March 1.
