Wendy and her family are relatively new to Minnesota, having moved to the area just three years ago. With her youngest daughter Mia being a late walker and not yet enrolled in daycare, Wendy was looking for an opportunity to help her build strength, confidence and social skills in a supportive environment.
“Mia just needed a place where she could move and gain confidence.”
A recommendation from another mom led Wendy to North Shore Gymnastics Association (NSGA) — a decision that, she says, has changed everything for her daughter.
When Wendy visited the gym, what stood out immediately was the transparency and accessibility. She could observe her daughter’s entire class, which provided peace of mind for a child who had never been separated from her before.
“It was a huge bonus that she could see me and give a thumbs-up during class. That made a big difference in her confidence.”
Experience: A Transformation in Confidence and Independence
Mia started in the 3-4-year-old group, and Wendy quickly saw a dramatic transformation.
“She was so shy and timid, afraid of the obstacles. But the teachers were loving, supportive, and encouraged independence.”
Over time, Mia’s confidence grew. She now completes every activity on her own and feels proud of herself; a development she shares with her family regularly.
“The progress has been incredible. She’s like a different kid.”
Wendy credits the exceptional teaching staff, emphasizing their patience, support, and intuitive understanding of what each child needs to thrive.
What Sets North Shore Apart
While Wendy hasn’t experienced other gyms directly, she recognizes the thoughtfulness and variety in North Shore’s programming.
“Each week feels different. They keep things exciting and new, even in the smaller space we use. It’s clearly very intentional.”
She appreciates that the gym caters to each child’s development with care, especially in the critical early years of physical and social growth.
When speaking to other parents, Wendy recommends North Shore Gymnastics as an ideal introduction to movement and social development for preschool-aged children.
“It’s a wonderful facility with wonderful staff. It’s the perfect place to start with a social program that builds confidence, strength, and coordination.”
She sees NSGA not only as a gymnastics program but also as a foundation for her daughter’s personal growth—a space that gently encourages independence and celebrates progress.
For Wendy and her daughter Mia, North Shore Gymnastics has been more than a recreational activity, it has been a launchpad for confidence and capability. Through supportive coaching, creative programming and a welcoming environment, Mia has gone from shy observer to proud participant.
“Mia is confident, excited, and independent. I couldn’t be more grateful.”
